What’s Been Going On the Past Four Years?

I left Puny Human soon after Galacide released for financial reasons within the studio, and got a short contract with Sanction Studios working on a simple tablet app for the US Marine Corps.

At the beginning of 2016, I was hired by NeuroCog Trials in Durham, NC, to work on their new game-like clinical assessment tool built in Unreal Engine 4: Virtual Reality Functional Capacity Assessment Tool (VRFCAT) (It’s not “virtual reality” in the Oculus Rift sense, they didn’t realize the connotation when choosing that name.) https://verasci.com/what-we-do/endpoints-assessments/vrfcat/

We released that on PC and later iOS (it works on Android as well but we weren’t targeting the platform.)

Once VRFCAT development ramped down and shifted mainly to maintenance and localization, the company shifted me to their tablet app, Pathway: https://verasci.com/pathway-ecoa/ (they changed their name to VeraSci in October 2018) which I worked on until I left the company in November 2019 to pursue a more game-focused direction.

Been a while…

I got hired as a contractor for Puny Human Games in November and was immediately busy all the time. In March, they moved me to Raleigh and hired me full time to work in the office- where I was even more busy until after we released Galacide on July 28th!

This is my 5 month group final project game from Full Sail. This game was developed from scratch by a team of 6 student programmers with art outsourced to a separate team of 5 student artists.

Things to Come:

On November 15, 2014, in Personal, Projects, Site, Updates, by JonMadden

Next week I’ll be adding videos with commentary for my SGP game: Notorious, and final project game: The Gates. These games were the two team projects I worked on at Full Sail. Notorious was created by a team of four student programmers and a staff artist and took three months to complete. The Gates was created by a team of six student programmers with art “outsourced” to a separate team of student artists and took five months to complete.

This was the first game with graphics that I made as part of the curriculum at Full Sail. It’s a native Win32 app using raw bitmap display for all the graphics.

This was the second game with graphics that I made as part of the curriculum at Full Sail. It was the first “complete” game I made, including menus, a boss fight, and end credits.
